Designing and Prototyping for 3D Printing
Designing and Prototyping for 3D Printing
3D Printing is actually useful for more than just printing up stuff you found online. With a little bit of design know-how and some patience you can make your own models for printing to create your own things or just replace broken parts to other things.
Class attendees will learn how to
Accurately measure out and design a thing
Various ways of attaching things to other things
Optimal geometries for clean, strong prints that don't use a lot of filament.
This class will be open to whomever wishes to attend and will start promptly at 7:00pm. Feel free to pop in even if you cant attend for the whole thing.
Mig Welding 101 – One on One
Mig Welding 101 – One on One
Intro to MIG welding.
This is the Basic startup class for using the MIG Welder in the Metal Shop.
We will spend about 30 minutes on basic safety and area requirements.
Expect an hour or so of hands on setup and shared MIG welding time (more if needed.)
*The class may run a bit short or long depending on students needs. *
Students should bring their own Welding Shield, gloves and other PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) if they have them.. but these are not required. The Metal Shop has all the required equipment for those who don’t have their own.
Demystify Sewing Patterns
Demystify Sewing Patterns
Are you thinking of a Halloween costume? Do pattern markings look more like hieroglyphics? Sue, a seasoned seamstress, will lead you through the process she went through while creating an astronaut costume starting with the pattern selection process. Next you will learn how to read the outside of the envelope so you get all the fabric and notions you need to complete your project. Then dive into the mystery of the layout directions. Unfold the tissues and learn how to use multi-size patterns to your advantage. Lastly, pinning, cutting and how to transfer which markings. Unlock the mysteries of patterns so they never hold you back from creating your own project.
There is no prerequisite. This is meant to be a casual, informative class.
This is an on-line virtual class. A link to join the class will be e-mailed to you shortly before class begins.
