Knox Makers – Arts and Crafts

Want to add some greenery to your life but don't have room for a garden? Try making your very own terrarium, a self-contained planter filled with mosses, ferns and other plants that acts like a living, growing art piece.

Terrariums are low maintenance, customizable, and a great way to keep plants indoors without making a mess or taking up too much space.

In this class, participants will learn how to properly construct and maintain a terrarium and add artistic elements, like colored glass, minerals, and even miniature animals and figurines, to create a one-of-a-kind piece.

All containers, rocks, soil, plants and decorations will be provided, though feel free to bring your own decorations if you wish. Casual attire that can get a little dirty is recommended.

NOTE: If you have a container of your own you would like to use, please be sure it is large (over 6" tall), clean, made of clear glass (not frosted or colored), and has a lid or small/constricted opening (the plants in this class need to be in a humid environment).

This week, we'll be making miniature terraria and planters using upcycled glass containers. A terrarium is a great way to keep plants in your space without taking up too much space – perfect for apartments, offices, or anywhere that needs a little added greenery! A selection of succulents and other plants will be available to choose from, and we'll walk through how to plan, construct and care for your terrarium to keep it lush and vibrant for a long time to come.

Adult beverages welcome (BYOB) and we’ll provide all other materials and supplies (lots of containers are available, but you may bring a small one of your own if you wish, no larger than a cup or so in volume). So come have some laughs, meet new friends, and walk away at the end of the night with your own custom greenery to brighten your space!

Design, score, cut, grind and solder your way to a beautiful piece of stained glass art!

This class is a prerequisite for using the stained glass equipment at Knox Makers. Attendees of this class will learn how to use all tools in the zone and will be authorized to use the power glass equipment in the future, plus they will walk away with their own custom piece of stained glass art.

This week, we'll be painting pre-made 3D printed models. Think ceramics painting, but without the firing! We have a huge selection of models to choose from – buildings, animals, vehicles, art pieces, fantasy set pieces, and more.

All models and paints provided, just bring yourself.

Adult beverages welcome - BYOB

Bring your own pumpkin (none are provided) and (optionally) your own hand power tools and we'll help each other make Jack-o'-lanterns with them. Primary tools to be used are hand drills and reciprocating saws. Masks are required in accordance with current Knox Makers policy.
