Fred will teach you about safety, basic use and unique features of the power tools in the woodworking area. At the completion of this course, you will be authorized to use the all equipment (except for the grizzly lathe) without supervision.

Knox Makers will host a member onboarding session for new members. This night will start with a brief overview of the resources, rules, and goals of Knox Makers. Afterwards, members should feel welcome to stay and socialize. The focus of this evening will be on members who are new to Knox Makers, but older members are encouraged to come help and meet newer members. Snacks will be provided, so please RSVP so that we can make sure we provide an appropriate amount.
Machining 101 – Measuring and Layout
Machining 101 – Measuring and Layout
In this class, Billy will go over the basics of metrology and layout. This lecture and hands on lab will include machinist 'speak', accurate measuring, and project layout. Students will learn the basics of how to read and use micrometers, calipers, gauge blocks, angle blocks, sin bars, height gauges, dial test indicators and more to inspect, measure and layout their work. Do you want to talk like a machinist? Come join us and learn what we mean when we say stuff like 'half a thou'.
There will be a fee of $24.96 for general public and $19.96 current Knox Makers members. There will be a maximum of 12 tickets for this class, and a minimum of 4 tickets must be sold. If the class minimum is not met 24 hours prior to class start time, the class we be canceled and all tickets will be refunded.

Woodshop 104: Making a Bandsaw Box
Fred will teach you how to make a “Bandsaw Box” except using the sawstop. You will make and take home a 3×5 inch box (time permitting) or at least the pieces to assemble one yourself.
