Electronics

The Electronics Zone is equipped for prototyping, testing, and repair of both through-hole and surface mount projects.

Three workstations make it possible for several makers to work independently. Temperature-controlled soldering stations enable both standard and micro hand-soldering. Small and medium-sized infrared reflow ovens make board-at-a-time assembly possible, as well. Desoldering tools and hot-air rework stations support circuit repair and scavenging of parts. Three optical microscope systems are available for small work, one with digital imaging. Learning, testing, and experimentation are enabled by a variety of power supplies and test instruments.

We maintain a stockpile of thousands of electronic components, cables, and assemblies, all free for members to use in their projects. The Electronics Zone also incorporates a store stocked with hobby staples ranging from components, connectors, and microcontrollers to learn-to-solder kits, combat robot parts, and prototyping tools.

No authorization is required for members to make full use the Electronics Zone, but we do offer educational classes.
