Zones

Our space is divided up into a series of zones. Each zone has a physical space in our shop, and each is managed by a Czar or Czarina, who makes sure the zone’s materials are stocked and that any equipment is in good working order.

Most zones include some equipment that requires that members be authorized to use it. We routinely offer authorization classes that enable our members to work safely within the given zones.

We have a variety of FDM 3D printers ranging from the intro-level Creality Ender 3 to a Prusa XL with large print bed and five extruders. • Blacksmithing Zone

    Blacksmithing Zone

During COVID-19, we built a separate building on our property for blacksmithing. This keeps the majority of our “open flame” work isolated from the main building. Our blacksmithing building includes a high-end propane forge, a coal forge, anvils in several sizes and styles, a couple of vises, standard hand-tooling for blacksmithing, a big swage block,…

  • Classroom

We host our weekly “show and share” event in our classroom, and some instructors give lectures or share presentations in the room. We are able to project events to dual screens at the front of our classroom, and we’re equipped to stream live as well. Our default setup is theater style, but we’re also able…

The Electronics Zone is equipped for prototyping, testing, and repair of both through-hole and surface mount projects. Three workstations make it possible for several makers to work independently. Temperature-controlled soldering stations enable both standard and micro hand-soldering. Small and medium-sized infrared reflow ovens make board-at-a-time assembly possible, as well. Desoldering tools and hot-air rework stations…

Our Fiber Art zone features everything you need to bring your creative vision to life, including home and industrial sewing machines and sergers, large and small specialized ironing boards, irons, a large variety of fabrics, notions and small tools. The large tables not only provide for a great place to lay out long lengths of…
