Volunteerism

Knox Makers doesn’t exist without volunteers. We have no paid employees, so every piece of equipment we buy, every program we run, every project we help somebody complete is fueled by volunteer effort.

As an organization, we have routinely contributed to “Toy Tech” event at which we help adapt toys with buttons so that they’re more easily used by kids who have reduce mobility or dexterity.

A whole bunch of volunteers pull together each year to host a maker market that enables local sellers of hand-crafted goods to showcase their wares.

And of course, we help one another. It’s pretty common for members to help one another even outside the shop, moving heavy items, making home repairs, and so on.

If you’re considering membership at Knox Makers, we ask you to consider what sorts of volunteerism you might like to offer. It’s not required, but it helps us make this space and community better and better.
