Fiber Arts has a considerable amount of fabric just shoved into numerous tubs. This is an afternoon devoted to fabric folding. The end goal is to have something that not only looks neat and tidy but anyone can easily see what is available. So if you love to fondle fabric, join us when you can, stay as long as you can and let’s get folding and sorting.

This is the authorization class needed to use the Brother Innov-is NQ1700E Embroidery Machine. The general format of the class covers choosing the right stabilizer and needle for your project, hooping, designing and stitching it. A hands-on approach will show the basics of how to turn the preloaded text and images into fabric art.

For the more advanced, loading up a pes file format embroidery design of your own will be covered. Class time will vary depending on number of questions and skill level of participants.

Smocking is an embroidery technique that functionally binds and decoratively embelishes pleats. This gathering of the fabric can be functional shaping or purely decorative.

In the class, we will be making 3.5" heart-shaped sachets. They can be plain stuffed pillows or filled with a mixture of polyfil and potpouri as scent sachets. We will discuss various methods of pleating the fabric in preparation for the embroidery, but the class will focus on the stitching techniques and tips for finishing. Due to time constraints, the fabric will be pre-gathered.

*This is a pilot class so it's half price. Future classes will be full price.

Sublimation printing is soft on fabric like silk screening and not stiff like HTV (heat transfer vinyl.) Come learn how to print your favorite image on special paper then use the heat press to transfer it to a shirt, hat, mug, tumbler or plate. While this class is focused on sublimation, the heat press is not limited to only sublimation prints. You can press HTV designs cut out on the Silhouette or vinyl cutter.

There will be a short talks on how to and not to press each item integrated with hands on time. Every student will press their name onto the auth shirt and leave with a 15oz coffee cup or 20oz tumbler printed with a design of their choice.

Using Inkscape's add-on for the silohette, you will print and cut your own black and white sticker. Then we will explore using other materials like cardstock, vinyl and felt.
