Pablo Authorization 101: Basic Operation of the KM Drawing Machine
You must purchase a ticket to attend this class. There will be ten spaces available. https://knoxmakers.org/event/pablo-authorization-101-basic-operation-of-the-km-drawing-machine/
Pablo the Polargraph Drawing Bot is a group build by members of Knox Makers and other community volunteers.
In this hands-on workshop, we will run through how to set up Pablo’s pieces, hook up Pablo’s pieces together, and how to connect and use the space mini-laptop designated for Pablo.
Pablo uses a Processing sketch to control the coordinates that Pablo draws as well as the chosen writing utensil that Pablo lifts and places on your canvas material while drawing.
Pablo can use advanced methods such as vectorized shading of raster images, like geometric shapes to represent greyscale interpretations of an uploaded .jpg, .png, .bmp, or .gif image file. Since Pablo uses Processing, a near limitless variety of options are ready to be modified such as using ImageMagick ( https://www.imagemagick.org/script/command-line-processing.php ) to create new methods of drawing or modifying and then drawing images. There is truly no end in sight for Pablo’s creative potential.
However, this class is a basic, entry-level walkthrough of how to use the simplest method of just directly uploading vector .SVG images.
We will look at how to search for and how to create images that are the most effortless to have Pablo draw. We will look at a few basic commands to select in Pablo’s “Polargraph Controller” software, and we will look at basic Pablo troubleshooting when first starting Pablo up.
All participants will have a chance to find or create their own .svg image, and have a chance to get their drawing in rotation for a live draw during the class. Members are welcome to stick around after class to take turns drawing freely, and guests are welcome to try to use Pablo immediately before or after any Tuesday night class while members are still around. Participants who finish this class may be authorized to use Pablo.
This class is required for more advanced Pablo classes.
