Introduction to 3D printing

Jeffrey will provide an introductory class on setting up and calibrating your 3D printer, finding patterns to print, creating and modifying models, and the use of slicing programs to send your patterns to the printer. There will be demonstrations, and anyone that wants to bring their 3D printer and computer to class is welcome to do so. There will be some hands on time available for those that do not bring any equipment with them.

The softwares that will be discussed in class are:

Slic3r (http://slic3r.org/)

OctoPrint (https://octoprint.org/)

There will be a fee for this class of $24.96 for the general public, $19.96 for current Knox Makers members.

All software is free and open source. This class is limited to 20 attendees.

Directions- Knox Makers parking and entrance is located around the back of the ETTAC building in the fenced in area.

Knox Makers is a place for the Knoxville area’s engineers, artists, hobbyists, innovators, educators and entrepreneurs to work and play. We are a technology and art collective dedicated to the promotion of creativity enabled and informed by science. Our lectures, workshops, and outreach programs inspire and educate both members and the general public. Our workshop provides members with both the space for large projects and the tools to complete them. We are a non-profit educational organization supported by member dues and staffed by volunteers.
