FreeCAD CAM 101 – Intro to CAM

FreeCAD CAM

This class introduces participants to using FreeCAD’s CAM workbench to generate toolpaths for CNC machining. We’ll start with simple engraving from an imported SVG, move into inside and outside profile cuts for panel-style projects, and finish with a 2.5D part designed from scratch in FreeCAD.

Topics include importing SVGs, converting geometry to sketches, creating CAM jobs, setting up stock and tools, and generating common operations like engrave, profile (inside/outside), adaptive pocketing, and roughing/finishing passes. The focus is on hands-on toolpath creation, simulation, and preparing G-code ready for CNC use.

We will be using classroom laptops for this class.  We can go over how to setup your computer after class, time permitting.

This is a invite only beta class and this has been posted to reserve the classroom for this event. – Stay tuned for this class to be available to members.
