Thinking about buying a lathe but you don’t know which one? What’s the best tool for hollowing a bowl or box? Not sure about that special piece of wood, how to cut it and mount it on the lathe? Woodturners (and wannabe woodturners) talking with other woodturners about woodturning.

Class members are encouraged to bring eye protection (full face shields are ideal. Do not wear any long, loose-fitting clothing, long sleeve shirts, bracelets, rings or low hanging neck chains. A hat would be appropriate if you don’t want to be picking woods chips out of your hair.

This is a free hang out session dedicated to wood turning. Come happy and leave with rounded things.

Knox Makers is a place for the Knoxville area’s engineers, artists, hobbyists, innovators, educators and entrepreneurs to work and play. We are a technology and art collective dedicated to the promotion of creativity enabled and informed by science. Our lectures, workshops, and outreach programs inspire and educate both members and the general public. Our workshop provides members with both the space for large projects and the tools to complete them. We are a non-profit educational organization supported by member dues and staffed by volunteers.
