WordPress is an open source platform for building websites, and Knoxville’s WordPress meetup group will gather for their monthly meeting to discuss WordPress topics. This month’s focus: Gutenberg

Gutenberg for WordPress aims to bring a uniform experience for rich content editing and extending well beyond the WYSIWYG editor. This includes more advanced options for layout and improvements to blocks and post/page design and editing. Michael will present the beta Gutenberg plugin which is planned to be included in a later core WordPress release.

This meeting is aimed at all users, and even developers and designers will be able to benefit from this discussion. The first half of the this meeting will provide an introduction to Gutenberg for WordPress and how to use it. Later portions will include a technical run-through, topics that all WordPress developers will need to consider in preparation for Gutenberg’s release, and a Q&A session. Come learn about the current beta release of this plugin and why WordPress and it’s developer, Matt Mullenweg, are pushing hard to make this huge move. After the presentation, a WordPress Q&A session led by volunteer experts and pros, known as a Happiness Bar, will take place. This month’s Happiness Bar will be dedicated to the Gutenberg plugin.
